Department of Urology :

The Department of urology provides state-of-the-art patient care and facilities for diagnosis and management of all types of urological disorders. Following facilities are available in each subspecialty for diagnosis and management of various urological disorders.Endourology:
Procedures like PCNL, Ureteroscopy, TUR of prostate, bladder tumours, endoscopic removal of bladder stones, and optical internal urethrotomy, are done regularly as standard of care.P.C.N.L (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) for large kidney stones:
This method is very good for large stone more than 2 cm. In this method after giving anesthesia stone is removed through a small hole by using nephroscope. Patients usually require hospitalization for only 2 to 3 days. Advantages: no large surgical incision, minimal bleeding, less pain and early return to work.

URSL (Ureterorenosocpic Lithotripsy) for ureteric stones:
This method is very good for stone in the ureter. In this method after giving anesthesia a small endoscope is passed through the urinary passage into the ureter and stone is fragmented into small pieces which are removed by endoscope. Patients usually discharged from the hospital next day.

PCLT (Percutaneous Cystolithotripsy) and Cystolitholapaxy for bladder stones:
In this method after giving anesthesia a small endoscope is passed through the urinary passage or directly thorough the small hole made over the bladder. Even very large stones are easily fragmented and removed endoscopically without giving large incisions. Patient requires only short hospital stay.

TURP (Transurethral Resection of Prostate):
At present this procedure is gold standard for treatment of enlarged prostate causing urinary obstruction in old age group patients. In this method, enlarged prostate can be removed endoscopically in to small pieces through urinary passage without giving large incisions (as given in open surgery). Advantages: minimal bleeding, less pain, short hospital stay (2 to 3 days).

TURBT (Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor):
In this method superficial bladder tumors are removed through urinary passage. Advantages: minimal bleeding, less pain, short hospital stay (2 to 3 days).

Laparoscopic Urological Surgeries:
We are regularly performing Laparoscopic Pyeloplasty for PUJ obstruction, Laparoscopic Radial Nephrectomy for kidney cancer, Simple Nephrectomy for non-functioning kidney and Laparoscopic Ureterolithotomy for large ureteric stones.

ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy):
Urology department has one of the best shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) machine. By this technique kidney stone is fragmented into very small particles without surgery and these stone particles are passed in the urine gradually in the next few days. This technique is very good for stone less than 2cm. Many patients have already

been made free of their stones. It has got advantages that it can be done without hospitalisation and without anaesthesia. Invariably patient can resume his/her work straight away.

Uro-oncology (surgeries for cancer of kidney, bladder and prostate):
All variety of genito-urinary cancers including kidney, bladder, prostate, testis, penis are treated with radical surgery as indicated e.g. Radical cystectomy with orthotopicneobladders for muscle invasive Bladder Cancer, RPLND for Testicular Tumor, Inguinal block dissection for Carcinoma Penis, Radical Prostatectomy and Radical Nephrectomy with IVC thrombus extraction etc.

Paediatric Urology:
Facilities are available for treatment of Hypospadias, Wilms Tumor, Adrenal Mass and congenital PUJ obstruction.

Urodynamics:
Urology department is well equipped with a latest state-of-the-art urodynamic Laboratory (DentecDuetlogic System) for uroflowmetry and urodynamic studies in Neurogenic Bladder, BPH, Stress Incontinence etc.

Reconstructive Urology:
Expertise is offered for all variety of upper and lower tract reconstructive problems including Pyeloplasty, Ileal Replacement of Ureter, Boari Flap, Augmentation Cystoplasty, and whole range of urethral and genital reconstruction including complex strictures. Urethroplasty using buccal mucosa or circumpenile flap is done wherever required.
